2023 AFC Asian Cup final

The 2023 AFC Asian Cup final was a football match which determined the winner of the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, the 18th edition of the AFC Asian Cup, a quadrennial tournament contested by the men's national teams of the member associations of the Asian Football Confederation. The match was held at the Lusail Stadium in Lusail, Qatar, on 10 February 2024 between first-time finalists Jordan and the host country and defending champions Qatar.[2][3]

Qatar successfully defended the title after a 3–1 victory against Jordan, who were playing in their first major tournament final. Akram Afif earned a hat trick by scoring three penalties to make Qatar the first team to retain the Asian Cup since Japan in 2004.[4]

Venue

The final was originally set to be played at the Al Bayt Stadium, Al Khor. However it was moved to the higher-capacity Lusail Stadium, Lusail on 21 August 2023. This was the second match of the tournament played at the stadium, following the opening match on 12 January 2024.[5]

  • 90 minutes.
  • 30 minutes of extra time if necessary.
  • Penalty shoot-out if scores still level.
  • Maximum of five substitutions, with a sixth allowed in extra time.
