Career

Peterborough United

O'Connell made his senior debut as a substitute in a 4–1 League One win over Doncaster Rovers on 9 May 2021.[2]

During the 2021–22 campaign, O'Connell enjoyed a brief loan spell with Kettering Town, featuring three times in all competitions.[3][4] Proceeding this, he went onto to join Woking on three separate occasions during both 2022–23[5][6] and 2023–24 campaigns, returning to the club as recently as October 2023,[7] signing a one-month loan with the Surrey-based side.

Proceeding a brief return to Woking, O'Connell joined National League South side, Hampton & Richmond Borough on loan in February 2024.[8] He went onto feature seven times, scoring once before moving onto Oxford City for the remainder of the campaign.[9] He made his debut that same day in a 2–2 draw with Rochdale.[10]

On 12 May 2024, Peterborough announced the player had been transfer-listed.[11]
