History

Cycma was established in 1970. During the 1990s, Algeria's motorcycle market opened up to international competition, significantly impacting Cycma's financial stability. The company faced challenges and resorted to workforce reductions on several occasions since the 1990s. In 2012, Cycma neared closure; however, the Algerian government intervened and provided assistance to restructure the company.

In 2012, the company narrowly escaped bankruptcy, thanks to a new restructuring and support from the government. Operations resumed in 2014.[2][3]
