Eric E. Austin

Eric Erskine Austin[1] (born c.1969) is a United States Marine Corps major general who serves as the commanding general of the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing. He previously served as the director of the Capabilities Development Directorate in the Office of the Deputy Commandant for Combat Development and Integration.[2][3]

Austin graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1991 with a B.S. degree in aeronautical engineering. He completed flight training in 1994. Austin later graduated from the National War College in 2010 with a master's degree in national security strategy.[3]

In March 2024, Austin was nominated for promotion to lieutenant general and appointment as deputy commandant for combat development and integration.[4][5]
