Evol (sect)

Evol is a sect from Spain, Escatrón (Zaragoza). The sect was established in 2018, locating itself in an isolated and difficult-to-access property.[1]

The leader preached that the outside world was “corrupt” and “sick,” verbally and physically punishing those who tried to maintain contact with society,[2] and was the only one who had the knowledge to create a “new world.[3]

The Civil Guard has dismantled the sect in 2024, with the arrest of four people.[4] The investigation began following several complaints from victims.[5] The victims, mostly women, have suffered attacks, humiliation and threats from the leader.[6]

The guru of the fatalist sect, Igor Plaza, is in provisional detention.[7]
