History

The group was founded by Ghulam Mohammad A. Fecto.[1] He was born in 1922 in Jetpur in the British Indian state of Gujarat, into a Memon family. Fecto sold shoes out of a store he owned in Mumbai called Coronation Footwear.[3] After the partition of India he migrated to Dhaka and started a trading business dealing in electrical goods and home appliances, radios and TVs, wire and cable.[3]

It then moved to western Pakistan where it transitioned into manufacturing, securing the agency of tractors in 1975. The company continued to transition and at different points manufactured with two sugar mills, a tractor plant, cement plant, paper-sack and hardboard units.[1]

In 1981 Fecto Cement Ltd. was established and production commenced in 1990.[4] It is considered a small player in the domestic market holding a 1.3% market share.[5] [6]
