Jatropha rivae

Jatropha rivae is a species of flowering plant found in Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, and Tanzania. It is a densely-branched shrub that grows up to 2 meters tall, with usually purplish-brown young twigs, in desert and dry shrub land biomes. It is locally codominant in Acacia-Commiphora bushland on alluvial soils and deep sands, in gypsaceous soils, in stony places on limestone, and in Acacia-Commiphora-Boswellia bushland. It grows from an altitude of 0 meters to an altitude of 1150 meters.[1][2]

Taxonomy

Jatropha rivae is in the genus Jatropha and the family Euphorbiaceae. It has subspecies parvifolia, quercifolia, and rivae. It was named in Annuario Reale Ist. Bot. Roma 6: 185 in 1896 by Ferdinand Albin Pax.[2][3]
