Lashar District

Lashar District (Persian: بخش لاشار) is a former administrative division of Nik Shahr County, Sistan and Baluchestan province, Iran. Its capital was the city of Espakeh.[3]

Etymology

The name Lashar derives from the son of Mir Jalal Khan, Mir Lashar Khan, ruler of the territory in the 12th century.

History

After the 2011 National Census, Chanef Rural District was separated from the district to form Ahuran District.[4] After the 2016 census, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Lashar County.[5]

Demographics

Population

At the time of the 2006 census, the district's population was 26,576 in 5,663 households.[6] The following census in 2011 counted 30,720 people in 7,721 households.[7] The 2016 census measured the population of the district as 33,973 inhabitants in 9,123 households.[2]
