Nicolás Lagos

Nicolás Alejandro Lagos Espinosa (born 7 December 1999)[1] is a Chilean futsal player who plays as a defender or winger for Ferro Carril Oeste in the Argentine Primera División and the Chile national team.

Career

Lagos began his career with the futsal team of Deportes Melipilla,[2] before switching to Universidad de Chile in 2018, winning the Copa de Campeones against his previous club,[3] qualifying to the 2019 Copa Libertadores.[4]

In October 2019, he had his first experience abroad by joining on loan to Bolivian futsal team Víctor Muriel on a deal until the end of the season.[5] Back to Universidad de Chile, he won the 2019 Torneo Clausura, the 2021 national championship and the 2022 Copa Chile[6] and took part in the 2021 Copa Libertadores.[7]

In 2023, he moved abroad again and joined Ferro Carril Oeste in the Argentine top level, coinciding with his compatriots Renato Martínez-Conde and Bilan De La Paz.[8][9]

International career

At under-20 level, Lagos represented the Chile under-20 team in the 2018 Conmebol Liga Sudamericana Zona Sur.[10]

At senior level, he has been called up to the Chile national team since 2018[2] and has taken part in many tournaments and friendlies such as the South American Futsal League,[11] a tour in Morocco,[12] the 2022 Copa América,[1] a tour in Uruguay,[13] among others.

He was included in the squad for the 2024 Copa América.[14][15]
