1886 – Henry G. Ivatt, Chief Mechanical Engineer of the London, Midland and Scottish Railway 1946-1947, is born (d. 1976).
1897 – The Rio Grande Junction Railway sells the Colorado Midland Railway out of bankruptcy to private investors.
1958 – Nickel Plate 765 (pictured) is retired to Lawton Park in Fort Wayne, Indiana.[1]
1976 – An international train collides with a local train near Schiedam, the Netherlands, killing 24 and injuring 11.
