SK Umesh

S K Umesh (also known as Sorekaidoddi Kariyappa Umesh) is a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police credited with arresting several notorious criminals and the many police encounters in which he was involved in solving sensational cases of yesterday years and trying to capture hardened criminals.[1][2]

Early life

Umesh was born in Sorekaidoddi village, Kanakapura, Ramanagara district of Karnataka state. His daughter is the famouse leading actress Sapthami Gowda who acted in blackbuster movie like Kanthara.

Police service

SK Umesh joined the Karnataka State Police Service in 1990 and is credited with 10+ encounters and resolving many cases.[2]

Ashok and his police team were in the news for the Kammanahalli encounter killing of history-sheeter Station Shekar.[3]

Umesh retired from service on 31 July 2022[2] and faces constant threat to his life from the criminal underworld.[4]

Honours and awards

He won the President of India's Gold Medal three times and the gold medal of the Chief Minister of Karnataka once. .
