V. M. Thomas

Vadingadu Munaswamy Thomas (born 1974) is an Indian politician from Andhra Pradesh.[1] He is an MLA from Gangadhara Nellore Assembly constituency which is reserved for SC community in Chittoor district. He represents Telugu Desam Party.[2] He won the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election where TDP had an alliance with BJP and JSP.[3][4]

Early life and education

Thomas is born in a middle-class family. His father Vadingadu Prakasam was a farmer. He is a medical doctor. He did M.Sc. and also completed his doctorate, the Doctor of Philosophy in Zoology in 2000 at Karnatak University, Dharwad.[5] He is a specialist in fertility and runs the Chennai Fertility Centre at Chennai.[6]

Career

Thomas won the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election from Gangadhara Nellore Assembly constituency representing Telugu Desam Party. He polled 1,01,176 votes and defeated Krupalakshmi, daughter of deputy chief minister K. Narayana Swamy, by a margin of 26,011 votes.[7][8]
