Wan Kuzri

Wan Kuzri bin Wan Kamal (born 9 August 2002) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for USL League Two club St. Charles FC.[1][2][3]

In this Malay name, there is no surname or family name. The name Wan Kamal is a patronymic, and the person should be referred to by their given name, Wan Kuzri. The word "bin" or "binti"/"binte" means 'son of' or 'daughter of', respectively.

Early life and education

Kuzri was born and raised in the United States.[4] He is a native of Carbondale, Illinois.[5] As a youth player, Kuzri joined the St. Louis Scott Gallagher Academy.[6]

Kuzri attended the University of Akron.[7]

Career

Kuzri has been called up to represent Malaysia internationally at the youth level.[8][9] Kuzri has received comparisons to Croatia international Luka Modric, Malaysia international Safiq Rahim and Germany international Toni Kroos.[10]

Personal life

Kuzri is the younger brother of Wan Kuzain, a professional soccer player in the United States.[11][12] His older brother, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal, is a Malaysian politician.
