If the forum guideline "Avoid making statements based on opinion" is going to be enforced, I may not be long for this group! I'm interested in anybody's opinion, as long as it's reasonable and comprehensible. (Unlike medical forum posts, telling me that "medicine A can be freely taken together with medicine B because I had no adverse reaction.")

I am 75 years old, a native speaker of U.S. English, fluent in German and sometime speaker of hopelessly rudimentary French, Italian and Mandarin.

I could make beautiful bilingual translations (English <—> German), but rarely do this work because I would spend hours racking my brains over usage, diction, and searching for felicitous turns of phrase.
