I am a fifty "something" woman who loves English and studying words and their origins and why they mean what they do in English. English isn't my second language, but I know no other one either. Sometimes I have questions about English that someone else may be able to answer for me. I just might ask about that here. I'll be looking for questions I may be able to answer and posting some questions I'd like answers for (like ending a sentence with a preposition and whether the period at the end of a sentence should be placed inside or outside the last parenthesis.)

The high school I went to was college preparatory with a strong emphasis on English composition, grammar, and literature. These are hardly qualifications for anything really. This is about why I'm here and my insatiable interest in the English language.
