Although I have in interest in the English language and am a native British English speaker I studied French at University so paradoxically I probably have a better grasp of the concepts of grammmar than most students of English. However, I do not always know the correct terms for the myriad of tenses we can use in English. I also have an MBA which was very useful in teaching me management-speak ......most of which I have now forgotten.
