Bezděkov (German: Besdiekau) a municipality and village in Rokycany District in the Plzeň Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 200 inhabitants.

Etymology

The name is derived from the personal name Bezděk, meaning "Bezděk's (court)".[2]

Geography

Bezděkov is located about 9 kilometres (6 mi) north of Rokycany and 16 km (10 mi) northeast of Plzeň. It lies in the Plasy Uplands. The highest point is the hill Na Kalvárii at 499 m (1,637 ft) above sea level.

History

The first written mention of Bezděkov is in a deed of King Wenceslaus I from 1234.[3]

In 1961–1990, Bezděkov was an administrative part of Přívětice.[4]

Transport

Bezděkov is located on the railway line Plzeň–Radnice.[7]

Sights

There are no protected cultural monuments in the municipality.[8] In the centre of Bezděkov is a chapel.
