Dave Saunders (volleyball)

David Patrick Saunders (born October 19, 1960) is a former volleyball player from the United States. He was a member of the United States national volleyball team that won the gold medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.[1] Four years later, when Seoul hosted the 1988 Summer Olympics, he once again won a gold medal.[1]

Saunders also helped the United States national team to gold medals at the 1985 FIVB World Cup,[2] 1986 FIVB World Championship, and 1987 Pan American Games.[1] He also won a silver medal at the 1986 Goodwill Games.[1]

College

Saunders played for the UCLA Bruins and won NCAA Championships in 1979, 1981, and 1982.[3] He was a first-team All-American in 1982.[3]

Saunders was inducted into the UCLA Hall of Fame in 2022.[3]
