Jagat Prakasha Malla

Jagat Prakasha Malla (Nepal Bhasa:๐‘–๐‘๐‘Ÿ๐‘ฅ๐‘‘‚๐‘ฌ๐‘Ž๐‘ต๐‘ฑ ๐‘ฉ๐‘ฎ๐‘‘‚๐‘ฎโ€Ž) was a Malla Dynasty King of Bhaktapur, Nepal from 1642 to 1673.[2] He succeeded his father Naresha Malla (Narendra), when he was just four years old and became known as a great builder.[3] He died of smallpoxwhen he was 34 years old.[2]

Maithiili dramas

Jagat Prakasha Malla is known to have written ten dramas, of which two have been published in the Maithili language. These are:[4]

  • Prabhฤvatฤซharana-nฤtaka (1656)
  • Pradyumnavijaya-nฤtaka (unknown date of composition)
