Kingdom of Imereti

Ottoman Empire Defeat

In 1507, Selim successfully defeated the Safavid army in Erzincan. The following year, in 1508, he led an attack on Georgia. He invaded and captured Western Georgia and brought Imereti and Guria under Ottoman rule. During the campaign, he allegedly enslaved more than 10,000 Georgians and many women, girls and boys.

• An army of 4,000 Georgians under the command of Simon 1. He suddenly attacked the enemy and his camp on the banks of Khram, but could not continue the fight with a large number of opponents (30 thousand men) and was forced to leave the battlefield. And the Ottoman Empire won the war against the Georgians who retreated from the battle.
