Marcus Walz

Marcus Cooper Walz (born 3 October 1994) is a sprint canoeist. Born in England, he has competed internationally for Spain since the early 2010s. He won the gold medal in the K-1 1000 metres event at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.[1] He won the silver medal in the Men's K-4 500 metres event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo with Saúl Craviotto, Carlos Arévalo and Rodrigo Germade.

Born in Oxford to an American father and an English/German mother, the family established in Mallorca when Walz was 3 months old.[2]

On June 26, 2024, the Spanish Olympic Committee, choiced to Cooper with the olympic boat driver Támara Echegoyen as the flag bearers to the París 2024.[3]
