Mohammed Sofo (born 31 October 2004) is a Ghanaian footballer who plays as a forward for MLS Next Pro side New York Red Bulls II.

Club career

Early career

Born in Accra, Ghana, Sofo began his career as a youth in Mali with the JMG Academy and later professionally with Guidars FC.[1]

New York Red Bulls II

On 2 June 2023, Sofo joined MLS Next Pro side New York Red Bulls II on a loan from Guidars FC of Mali.[2] On 13 August 2023, Sofo scored his first goal for New York Red Bulls II in a 5–0 victory over Columbus Crew II.[3] On 1 September 2023, Sofo opened the scoring for New York in a 3–0 victory over Toronto FC II.[4]

On 20 March 2024, Sofo scored his first goal of the season for New York in a 5-1 victory over Hudson Valley Hammers in the first round of the U.S. Open Cup.[5]

New York Red Bulls

Sofo and Omar Valencia were both added to the New York Red Bulls roster on 23 March 2024, ahead of the team's Major League Soccer match against Inter Miami.[6]
