Background

In the 2021 election, the Progressive Liberal Party of then opposition leader Philip Davis won a landslide victory against the incumbent Free National Movement led by then Prime Minister Hubert Minnis, securing 32 seats and 52.59% of the popular vote.

Electoral system

Members of the House of Assembly are elected from single-member constituencies using first-past-the-post voting.[1] The majority party then selects the Prime Minister, who is appointed by the Governor-General.[2]
