Pteria, Kastoria

Pteria (Greek: Πτεριά, before 1926: Άνω Παπράτσκο - Ano Papratsko[2]) is a village and a community in Kastoria Regional Unit, Macedonia, Greece. The community consists of the villages Pteria, Kato Pteria and Akontio.

The Greek census (1920) recorded 454 people in the village and in 1923 there were 450 inhabitants (or 60 families) who were Muslim.[3] Following the Greek-Turkish population exchange, in 1926 within Papratsko there were 50 refugee families from Pontus.[3] The Greek census (1928) recorded 294 village inhabitants.[3] There were 49 refugee families (194 people) in 1928.[3]

In 1945, Greek Foreign Minister Ioannis Politis ordered the compilation of demographic data regarding the Prefecture of Kastoria.[4] The village had a total of 511 inhabitants, and was populated by 91 Slavophones without a Bulgarian national consciousness.[5]
