Veleň

Veleň is a municipality and village in Prague-East District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 2,000 inhabitants.

Administrative parts

The village of Mírovice is an administrative part of Veleň.

Geography

Veleň is located about 7 kilometres (4 mi) north of Prague. It lies in a flat agricultural landscape in the Central Elbe Table.

History

The first written mention of Veleň is from 1318. Until 1678, it was owned by various lower noblemen. In 1678, the Nostitz family bought Veleň and annexed it to the Pakoměřice estate.[2]

Transport

The railway line Prague–Všetaty briefly crosses the municipal territory in the west, but there is no train station.

Sights

There are no protected cultural monuments in the municipality.[5]
