Vispieres

Vispieres is a town located in the municipality of Santillana del Mar, Cantabria, Spain. It is located 2 kilometers south of the municipal capital, Santillana del Mar. In this town, you will find the cave of paintings of Altamira and the Zoo. It is located 119 meters above sea level. In 2011, it had a population of 339 inhabitants (INE). It celebrates the feast of St. George on April 23.[3]

Within its borders is the peak Vispieres, which reaches an altitude of 226 meters. It is ascended from the same town of Vispieres. The summit offers panoramic views of the central coast of Cantabria and in it there are remains of a castillo medieval.

Within the mythology, there is a well-known female character called Viejuca de Vispieres, witch a beneficent native of the place.
