Ardabil County

Ardabil County (Persian: شهرستان اردبیل) is in Ardabil province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Ardabil.[3]

History

After the 2006 National Census, Sareyn District was separated from the county in the establishment of Sareyn County.[4] Gharbi Rural District was separated from the Central District to form Samarin District.[5]

After the 2016 census, the villages of Arallu[6] and Samarin[7] were elevated to city status.

Demographics

Population

At the time of the 2006 census, the county's population was 542,930 in 131,950 households.[8] The following census in 2011 counted 564,365 people in 156,242 households.[9] The 2016 census measured the population of the county as 605,992 in 180,975 households.[2]
